[rough footage]

I have secured both a sound designer and a composer, and everything I've heard sounds great so far!

First off, some half-finished backgrounds:

That's her responding to the boy, saying "where...where are you?"

    Nice backgrounds.

    The animation looks good, too, although her arm nearest to us ends up growing pretty big by the end of the shot.

    Really nice colors. I think you're capturing the perfect tone -- playful, but ominous.

    I'm guessing you're using a combination of hand-drawn and computer techniques to create the backgrounds, but they look completely hand-drawn. I don't know how you did it, but I'll get the secret out of you, if it's the last thing I do.
